Labor Day is over, and that means that our fall programs will be kicking into gear. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about Sunday School. As you are well aware, children and youth are our number one priority at Forest Park. I can think of no better way to support and love our kids than to give them a solid foundation by teaching them the bedrocks of our faith.
Sunday School is so much more than just songs and playtime. This is when our kids will develop and begin to nurture their faith. The biblical stories and applicable lessons are central to knowing God better. I can’t tell you how many adults will say to me, “I didn’t know that about Jesus,” or “I’ve never read about that in the Bible.” Sunday School is where these kids will learn these much needed biblical stories and so much more. If you are a parent, then please consider bringing your children to Sunday School so that they will be better equipped to process what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
This Sunday (September 11th) will be the start of a new year and a new format for children’s Sunday School. There will be three classes: Pre-K and Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade, and 3rd through 5th grade. We have some new teachers and a new curriculum that we think will be fun and engaging.
Our middle school and high school youth will continue to work with me as we have a great time while learning, processing, and going deeper in our faith.
And remember, Sunday School is not just for the kids. We will be starting a new adult Sunday School class beginning September 25th in addition to our existing adult Sunday School class which continues to meet each week.
I hope you will come join us in the education wing at 9:30 Sunday morning!!
